When making your own earrings, you can achieve a great result in a short period of time and with simple techniques. Many fantastic jewellery components are available so the possibilities are endless: You can make small earrings which sit on a single bead on the earlobe. Earrings with a single hanging bead. Long hanging earrings or beautiful beading hoop earrings. Even for ears which are not pierced, lovely clip-on earrings are available.

The French ear wire is very popular to use for earrings. Gently open the small loop with round nose pliers, attach the pendant and close the loop. Some earrings have a closed loop for pendants. In order to attach pendants to these, use  a round jump ring which can be opened and closed when using two flat nose pliers.
For earrings with beading hoops use a French ear wire as the earring for the ear. The actual beading hoop may be decorated in various ways: You can let beads hang down from the small loop or the beading hoop may be opened with a gentle pull, so beads and pendants can be threaded onto the beading hoop directly. Close the beading hoop by inserting the wire into the bracket and squeeze gently using chain nose pliers.

Kidney Ear Wire:
Attach a pendant onto the opened kidney ear wire.

Attach the pendant onto the small loop on the kidney ear wire.

3.

French Ear Wire:
On the French ear wire slightly open the loop with round nose pliers.

4.

Attach the pendant onto the open loop. Close the loop again with round nose pliers.

5.

Ear Studs with a loop:
Attach a pendant onto the loop of the ear stud using a round jump ring. Close the round jump ring with two flat nose pliers. Twist the ends until they are right opposite each other.

The pendant hangs underneath the metal ball in the loop.

7.

Clip-on Earrings:
Attach a pendant onto the clip-on earring using a round jump ring which may be closed using two flat nose pliers.

8.

The pendant hangs in the loop underneath the half metal ball on the front of the kidney ear wire.

9.

Flat pad metal stud earrings:
Use Super Attak Instant Glue for attaching the bead onto the flat pad of the metal stud earring.

10.

Use glue which is flexible and moisture-resistant.

11.

Beading Hoops:
Open the beading hoop. Thread beads and pendants onto the beading hoop.

12.

Close the beading hoop by inserting the wire into the metal bracket, squeeze it gently with chain nose pliers.

Het maken van hangers

1.

Buig het draad licht om een poot van de rondbektang zoals aangegeven.

2.

Buig het vervolgens naar de andere kant.

3.

Draai het eind van de draad rond de steel.

4.

Draai het helemaal naar beneden toe door, tot aan de kraal.

5.

Knip het overtollige deel af, zo dicht op de kraal als mogelijk.

6.

Knijp het uiteinde goed vast met een knijptang, zoals afgebeeld.

The long, round tip is used for bending wire and head pins. The size of the loop made with round nose pliers depends on which part of the tip is used for shaping the loop. If you want to make several loops all in the same size, you may draw a marker line on the exact part of tip of the round nose pliers.

These are used for holding, for opening and closing round jump rings.With the thin tip it can get into small areas where there  is not much space. It may also be used for bending head pins and wire. The jaw is flat but round on the outside.

Schuifknoop

Een schuifknoop is een aan te passen sluiting voor kettingen en armbanden gemaakt met leer, polyester of katoenkoord zonder gebruik te maken van klemmen en gereedschap.

1.

Leg de twee lange einden van het koord langs elkaar. Om de knoop te maken, draai je het uiteinde van het koord 3 tot 5 keer om zichzelf en het andere koorddeel heen.

2.

Duw nu het einde van het koord door de lussen – ook door de eerste lus.

3.

Trek nu aan het einde van het koord om de lussen vlak en strak te trekken.

4.

Knip het einde van het koord dicht op de knoop af. Lijm het vast aan de lussen, maar pas op dat er geen lijm aan het koord komt waarover de knoop een en weer moet schuiven. Herhaal deze 4 stappen voor de andere kant.

Oorbellen met ketting

Oorbellen gemaakt met een stukje ketting en kralen op nietstiften. Gemakkelijk snel en nu in de mode.

1.

Attach a piece of chain to the loop of the French ear wire.

2.

Thread a rocaille bead onto three head pins and a large bead onto each. Nip off the excess and twist to make a loop.

3.

Attach these three pendants onto the chain with a round jump ring.

Sieraden

Liefelijke, delicate armbanden voor tieners. Macramé met polyester koord en met een enkel verzilverd hart.

Pull the heart onto a piece of cord – use a beading needle if necessary.

Cut two pieces of cord each measuring 90cm and braid on either side of the heart.

Braid until the bracelet is a couple of cm short of reaching around your arm.

Fasten the cord, which is braided around, on the back.

Cut off the end and melt it with a lighter. Press it immediately into the bracelet with the pointed end of a scissors.

Arrange the 2 x 2 ends in parallel. Braid around these with a new piece of cord. Fasten the ends and melt them.

The bracelet must be able to go over your hand before tying double knots on the four ends. Melt the ends of the knots carefully.

Armband met kralen op nietstiften

Een feestelijke armband gemaakt van veel hangende kralen. De hangers zijn gemaakt van kralen die op nietstiften zijn gezet en waarna oogjes zijn gedraaid. Deze zijn op een elastisch koord geregen.

1.

Rijg een rocaille en een grote kraal op een nietstift. Draai de rest van de stift rond met de rondbektang. U heeft circa 50 hangers nodig.

2.

Rijg de hangers op het elastisch koord met strassteen rondelles ertussen. Wissel de kleuren af.

3.

Maak vier of vijf strakke knopen.

Sieraden

Een prachtige, rustieke ketting met kralen in geborsteld zilver geregen op een polyester koord met knopen ertussen.

Cut two pieces of polyester cord each measuring 190cm and pull the beads onto both cords. Position the first bead in the middle.

Tie a knot on the two cords. Pull the knot very close to the bead before tightening it.

Arrange the 2 x 2 cords in parallel. Make an adjustable knot in both sides. See the next pictures.

Make double knots on each of the four ends. Melt the ends with a lighter.
